Our volunteer archivist Julie Hughes and expert community volunteer Ann Brubaker have been busy accessioning and reconciling items in our collection at the Bacdayan Local History Archives in the Lyme Public Library. Among their accomplishments this quarter:
- Twenty-five Polly Murray audio cassettes have been digitized, bringing the total up to sixty-seven.
- Work on two large boxes of documents and ledgers from papers of the fraternal order the Knights of Pythias, ca. 1920-1940, has been completed.
- Newly acquired letters written by Evelyn MacCurdy Salisbury, a local philanthropist, have been accessioned and filed.
- Work on the postcards collection continues, with duplicate cards separated from unique items and a reconciliation of physical cards with digital records. Postcards with no relevance to Lyme have been sent to appropriate historical societies and museums. Our collection also includes international and United States postcards collected by Sylvia Daniels Harding [(1911-1997), the daughter of Jared Daniel Sr. of Joshuatown Road above Hamburg Cove; married to James Ely Harding, Jr.]
