2023 News from the Bacdayan Local History Archives

Archivist Julie Hughes has been busy as always in the Archives Room at the Lyme Public Library. She is in residence on Thursdays from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Here are some of the recent projects that she and community volunteer Ann Brubaker have been working on:

  • All DVDs with moving image content in the collection have been digitized
  • Fifteen additional Polly Murray audio cassettes have been digitized, bringing the total up to 102
  • Work is ongoing with Allen Petri to digitize and describe photographs and slides relating to the Firgelewski farm, the bulk dating from the 1940s through the 1960s. In the end, this will be a digital collection of around 150 images.
  • We received a donation of old Cemetery Commission papers and a 19th century ledger from Marilyn Warren; Julie will be collaborating with Linda Winzer, Lyme Town Clerk, to determine what should be retained by her office and what may stay in the archives.
  • We received a donation of Lyme-Old Lyme High School yearbooks (1958-1998) for the Archives collection
